This beautiful area is perfect for walking, cycling, climbing, pony trekking or simply discovering some of the most delightful and unspoilt villages in the country.

Dovedale, Alstonfield and Hartington are within walking distance and the Tissington Trail is just a field away.  There are many historic houses close by, with the spectacular Chatsworth House only a short drive.  

There are activities to suit children of all ages. Cycling, with even the youngest children, is great fun on the Tissington Trail or round Carsington Water, which also offers a wide range of watersports.  The famous Alton Towers Theme Park is a half hour drive away.

There are numerous country pubs, award-winning restaurants and tea rooms to enjoy. Alternatively, locally sourced ingredients can be found at the many farm shops and delis nearby - ideal for picnics or preparing meals in the Cottages' well-equipped kitchens.

We are very proud of our family run farm, home to our rare breed Gloucester cattle, Gloucester Old Spot pigs and Light Sussex and Welsummer poultry. Our guests often join us and enjoy the lovely walk through Flaxdale whilst we’re checking our stock. And our Australian Kelpie dog, Mollie, loves to play with any willing children in the cobbled yard!
