There are so many walking and cycling paths right on your doorstep to explore during your stay at Church Farm Holiday Cottages. The hills and dales of the White Peak, with fields outlined by dry stone walls and criss-crossed with footpaths are perfect for walkers and cyclists.
The Tissington Trail passes close by Church Farm Holiday Cottages, just 5 minutes from the door. The trail, which is the old railway track from Ashbourne to Buxton, makes for easy walking. Or, you can hire bikes and cover quite a distance through the countryside, joining up with the High Peak Trail at Parsley Hay which takes you towards Wirksworth and Cromford. If you wish to bring your own bike, we have ample storage at Church Farm Holiday Cottages to keep your bike safe and dry.
The Manifold Track is 9 miles along a disused railway from Hulme End to Waterhouses. Part of the track between Swainsley and Wetton Mill is used by traffic (single track) and has a 100m long tunnel at Swainsley; this is illuminated but still quite dark with small passing places to avoid vehicles.
There are many villages and towns that you can explore along the trails, with plenty of cafes and pubs to dip into for a well earned rest.
After you return from a day of walking along the trails, we have all the facilities you need to get your clothes clean and dry. There is a fully equipped wash house with running hot water and a washing machine to cope with those tough muddy stains. As well as the wash house, there is a drying room to put everything in so your kit is warm, toasty and dry. We also have an outdoor hosepipe to get the worst off your boots and bikes, along with lockable sheds opposite the cottages to store your bikes in.
